The Rocketeer – Jennifer Connelly & Timothy Dalton – Jenny & Sinclair Dance

Classic Jennifer Connelly during the time when she was at her most beautiful and radiant (IMHO). From The Rocketeer, the scene when Jenny and the devilishly evil, but oh, so wonderfully seductive Neville Sinclair (Timothy Dalton), dance at the South Seas Club. Meanwhile, our hero, Cliff (Bill Campbell) comes to our heroine’s rescue. Song: “In a Sentimental Mood”, originally composed by Duke Ellington. Original copyright: Walt Disney Pictures 1991
Video Rating: 4 / 5

This is one of the most romantic scenes in cinema history. Unfortunately, it is too short. Dalton and Connelly are such a beautiful couple and the music is terrific. I love the set too.

This and the Beautician and the Beast convinced me Dalton could play a great Count Dracula.

But now all they make are these wussy vampire flicks for chicks, oh sure he drinks blood, but he feels bad about it…

    Yeah right…

Amen, I think that this scene from the Rocketeer was one of the great love scenes in films. I am totally shocked that Timothy Dalton works so infrequently and has never been in a lot of romantic films. Whenever I see a romantic film my response is always Timothy Dalton could have done it better. He is such a great actor and tremendously overated. He should have Academy Awards and Emmys on his fireplace mantel.

Totally agree. Neville was so sexy despite the evil seething underneath.

This is a great love scene. Too bad it was cut too soon. Dalton is an absolutely great actor and Jennifer Connolly is so beautiful. Dalton was cheated out of an Academy Award for playing Neville Sinclair. There is no doubt that Neville is one of the greatest villians in cinema history.

I actually found another continuity mistake. At 0:24 Jenny is drinking her champagne and she has not put down her glass completely. The next shot of her at 0:28 when she says, “There’s no music,” the glass is out of sight.

I’ve seen this scene so many times and that’s the first time I’ve noticed it LOL. :-)

Me too, Timothy Dalton was excellent as Bond; I do not like Brosnan’s Bond. Daniel Craig is OK, but not handsome.LOL

I’m not sure if that’s necessarily a continuity mistake because they show Sinclair and Jenny dancing, then they cut to Cliff landing, then it cuts to Sinclair and Jenny again, with the full bandstand. It’s assumed that the band members have already assembled unseen during Cliff’s landing and a little time has elasped. That’s my take on it.

I’m sure they did it for time reasons. They could have shown the band members taking their seats the second time during Sinclair and Jenny’s dance.

Continuity mistake: When they first walk out onto the dance floor, there are no band members. at 1:04 you can clearly see bandstand is full.

“In a Sentimental Mood”. It was originally composed by Duke Ellington, but has been covered by many different artists over the years.

Even though Dalton is old enough to be Connelly’s father, they still make a very sexy couple.

Actually, I prefer Daniel Craig, but that’s another story. LOL

But…if I had to choose, it would Dalton over Brosnan any day. ;-)

My favorite movie from my childhood. My favorite James Bond actor. My favorite 90’s actress.

This is a terrific movie. Timothy Dalton should have gotten an Academy Award for playing Neville Sinclair, the “sweet tooth that bites”. The flick was so campy. If the movie going public had any test this movie would have been a box office hit. Jennifer had a great body then. Now she looks like death–she is so thin.

    LOL!

I think she really did look her best in the early 90s. I think she is too thin nowadays, but that’s just me.

Recently I saw her on a magazine cover, I forget which one, but she looked so plastic and airbrushed! It was horrible. She still is a lovely-looking lady, but that’s how those magazines are. They airbrush the hell out of everything. :-(

I just wish that Jennifer had not gotten the breast reduction surgery. She was really much hotter looking when she had those nice puppies as she did in here in “The Rocketeer”.

In “A Beautiful Mind” she looks almost like a totally different person–still pretty but not nearly as hot.
